completed circuit board for a DIY guitar effects distortion pedal

The Top Hat

The Top Hat is the Hat kits big brother, a 5 knobbed distortion with a post boost in one box.

The distortion is based on Andy Timmons signature tones.  I love this distortion, its amazing! It is a bit noisy though although on the flip side it is a high gain distortion, so I guess that is to be expected!

The boost channel does not disappoint either,  Im even weighing up releasing it as a one knobber! it really made my guitar sing. It can be used in isolation as well so this is a true two in one.

As well as the four distortion control pots there is a 3 way toggle switch, which gives you excellent versatility - appropriately named 100w, 50w and 25w modes. The boost has a single level control.

This kit is a two footswitched beast, so there is some offboard wiring to be done.

The PCB will hang from the toggle and pots safely. Theres not too much to build here, 6/10 difficulty. The two footswitches are the challenge.

The kit comes with a JP125B enclosure.

A good kit :)
