The Heart of Jeds Peds: A Year of Connection, Creativity & Challenges

Writer: Jed Jed

Reflections, Resonance & The Road Ahead

Jeds Peds started as a simple idea: to make building guitar pedals accessible and fun. But somewhere along the way, it became something much bigger. It became a community—a wild, creative, inspiring place where people from all over the world share ideas, troubleshoot together, and celebrate their wins (and their slightly smokey failures).

As I sit here reflecting on the past year, one thought keeps circling my mind: hundreds of people unwrapped Jeds Peds kits on Christmas morning. That’s absolutely mad. Somewhere out there, people sat at their workbenches, soldering irons in hand, eagerly putting together circuits that I designed, built, packed, and shipped. The thought is humbling, to say the least. I never take it for granted.

The Power of Making Something with Your Own Hands

I’ve always believed there’s something magic about building your own gear. That first time you stomp on a pedal you made yourself? The moment it roars to life and you strum a chord, knowing you put every single part in place? That feeling never gets old.

And that’s why I love seeing the Jeds Peds Facebook group thriving. The creativity in there is unreal. I’ve watched people go from never having picked up a soldering iron to crafting absolute works of art—pedals with stunning enclosure designs, personal mods, and clever circuit tweaks that push my own ideas even further. I love seeing those builds. They remind me why I do this.

Some of you have gone beyond just building pedals—you’ve used your new skills to start businesses, make music, or just escape from the stresses of life. Whatever your reason, I’m just glad to be a small part of it.

The EE3 – A New Chapter

Speaking of exciting builds, let’s talk about the EE3. This is my latest passion project—a two-in-one valve drive and booster that’s dripping in warmth, grit, and vintage character.

The prototype boards are complete, and let me tell you… this thing sings. It’s got that rich, organic breakup that just makes you want to keep playing. Right now, I’m deep in the enclosure design phase, which is always a fun (and slightly chaotic) process. But I promise, it’ll be worth the wait.

I can’t wait to see what you lot do with this one. Because if the past year has taught me anything, it’s that Jeds Peds builders don’t just follow instructions—they innovate, modify, and make these circuits their own. That’s what makes this community so special.

The People Behind the Scenes

Jeds Peds is a one-human operation, but I’d be lying if I said I do it all alone. There are some absolute legends behind the scenes who help bring this whole thing to life:

🔧 Simon – A godsend when it comes to next-level PCB work. Some of the more complex stuff wouldn’t even be possible without his expertise. The man is a wizard.

🎨 David – My artistic hero. He takes my roughly done layouts and turns them into printable, pro-level designs. Every time he flips my design into something stunning, I sit there thinking, how the hell did he do that?

⚙️ Reece – The mind behind the JP Pro knob. A CAD designer with a sharp eye for detail, and the person who made sure that the JP Pro came out just right.

💬 Ash – The forum leader who keeps the community thriving, answering questions, keeping the place welcoming, and helping new builders find their feet. I genuinely don’t know how he does it, but I’m bloody grateful.

Looking Ahead

2024 was challenging on a personal level. Really challenging. But as well as pedals, fishing helped pull me through. There’s something about sitting by the water, rod in hand, that clears the mind and resets the soul. It’s reminded me that the simple things—like building something, making music, or just casting a line—are often the most powerful.

And that’s what I want to focus on in 2025: creativity, connection, and community.

More kits, more builds, more innovation. More celebrating the Jeds Peds family—because that’s exactly what it’s become.

So here’s to another year of making, learning, and pushing boundaries. Here’s to those first-time builders, the pedal art wizards, the tone chasers, the modders, the innovators. Here’s to every single one of you who’s been part of this journey.

Thank you. Truly.

Now, let’s get building. 🎸🔥 🚀
