Mental Moth

Mental Moth

Mental Moth takes its inspiration from a rare slice of early-’70s fuzz history — the fuzz section of the Iron Butterfly Fuzz Wah — stripped back, refined, and ready to earn its place on your board. This kit delivers a raw, vintage-leaning fuzz that feels alive under your fingers, with plenty of character and attitude.

The circuit excels at gritty, harmonically rich fuzz tones that clean up better than you’d expect and respond beautifully to picking dynamics and guitar volume. It can snarl when pushed, hover in that slightly broken-up edge, or sit thick and chewy behind a cranked amp. There’s an unmistakable old-school flavour here that suits guitars, bass, and even synths equally well.

Difficulty: Medium — approachable, but satisfying for newer builders.
Enclosure: JP125B with top jacks and power.

Why you’ll love it: Vintage-inspired fuzz with bite, character, and dynamic response

Whether you’re chasing obscure fuzz history or just want something a little darker, dirtier, and more expressive than the usual suspects, Mental Moth is a pedal that rewards exploration and playing feel in equal measure.

  • This kit compares to a pedal which was released in 1970 as the Iron Butterfly Fuzz Wah. This is the fuzz without the wah.
