The BBX3 delivers rich, amp-like tone with masses of tweakability. Whether you're after edge-of-breakup grit, full-bodied crunch, or harmonically complex saturation, this circuit brings it in spades.
The BBX3 uses a dual-stage clipping architecture to emulate the response of a driven tube amp, with excellent touch sensitivity and dynamics. Internal dip switches have been moved to external toggles, offering deep control over EQ curves, gain structure, and clipping character—so you can dial in the exact flavour of drive you need, from clean boost to saturated roar.
It’s one of our more involved builds, but totally achievable with a steady hand and a bit of patience. A rewarding project for players who want boutique tone and full control over their signal path.
We rate it about 7/10 on our difficulty scale — a great project for those who want something a little deeper than your average dirt box.
