Angels Univibe

Angels is a high end 'Univibe' DIY project kit.

I think most musicians have heard of the Univibe and know what it does.  It was famously used by Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Robin Trower...and obviously 100's of others. In its simplest form a univibe circuit is a staggered phase shifter known for its throbbing, hypnotic pulse and lo-fi sweep. Original units have become legendary, rare and expensive, leaving us normal folk with the only real option of making our own.

Angels features board mounted pots and toggles. Its a very versatile modulation box and will work well with a variety of instruments.  There is an optional input buffer as well as chorus and vibrato modes. Three pots control Speed, Intensity and Volume. I've also separated the grounding of the LFO section which eliminates the risk of audible ticking as far as possible.  The circuit path includes a voltage doubler so you should only use a 9v adaptor and rest assured it'll be running around 18v giving ample headroom.

The tiny little lamp is very cute too. Everything about this feels vintage, whilst retaining my modern design asthetic.

Angels can only be considered a hard level kit. You've got a high parts count, lots to possibly debug and likely to take a long time to build, its not cheap either. It's not really for a beginner. Be warned, its a test!

It fits inside a JP1590BB enclosure and is a pro level piece of kit.  The PCB features our DIY friendly layout, spacious and nice sized pads to encourage you to produce good joints. To top that off you get our highly detailed build guide to help you put it together.

There's been a lot of effort putting this kit together, it started in 2016 and was finished at the tail end of 2020! There's no need for yours to take this long though. A few hours will be fine.
